    Educational Ministries

Our primary educational ministry at First Baptist Church is our Sunday School, held at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday. We have classes for every age group from newborn to senior adults. Through these classes individuals can learn more about the Bible and build vital relationships with other Christians. Sunday School departments hold fellowship events which help class members get to know one another and encourage one another.

In addition to our Sunday School, we periodicly hold short-term classes for special emphases. These classes include an annual Winter Bible Study and discipleship-oriented studies such as Experiencing God, Becoming a Contagious Christian, and The Mind of Christ. The goal of these studies is to provide Christians with the resources and encouragement they need to grow toward spiritual maturity.

On Wednesday evenings, during the school year, from 6:30 - 7:30 PM we have Team Kid for children in grades 1-6. In Team Kid children learn Bible stories and principles for their lives as well as memorize Scripture. The program uses a variety of teaching methods from story telling to written work, from small group activities to large group games. This program, in place since January, 1999, has been very successful in reaching children and getting them involved in ongoing discipleship.

We publish a monthly newsletter entitled The LifeLine. This publication includes a calendar of events, articles about special opportunities in our church, announcements, prayer requests, and a special word each month from the Pastor. If you would like to be added to our mailing list, please send a request including your name and mailing address to First Baptist Church, 124 N. Folger St., Carrollton, MO 64633, or simply e-mail us with the information. Nancy Smith is our church secretary and editor of The LifeLine.

    Youth and Children's Ministries

In addition to age-graded Sunday School classes, we include a Children's Moment in our Sunday morning worship service each week. We have a good Vacation Bible School program every summer with over 100 kids attending.

We sponsor a Team Kid program for children grades 1-6. Team Kid is a discipleship program aimed toward helping children understand the Bible as it applies to their lives and Scripture memory. The weekly sessions include music, games, contests, and other forms of creative, interactive study to teach children about their God. Team Kid is held during the school year on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 - 7:30 PM and is led by Josh and Becky Fisher.

For the youth we have monthly fellowship times geared toward friendship building and spiritual growth among our teenagers. These programs are in addition to our Sunday School where we teach the Bible to teenagers. We also participate in munerous retreats, camps, and fellowship activities on a periodic basis. Youth Jams take place during the school months on Wednesday nights from 6:30 - 7:30 PM. The Youth Ministry Team is led by Chancey Payne and Joyce Casner.

    Missions Ministries

Our church participates is regular missions ministries. We have very active Brotherhood and Women on Mission groups that lead the missions education of our church. In addition to monthly meetings, these groups hold seasonal home and foreign mission studies, lead in special seasons of prayer for missions, and keep the church informed about special needs and prayer requests of missionaries. Our members are strong supporters of missions both through regualr giving and through generous support of the Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong Offerings for missions.

We participate is a partnership missions program through our state convention. We have partnered with the Petrikovski Church in Gomel, Belarus. Through this link we provide prayer support and other resources to enhance the ministry of this congregation as it struggles to broaden its outreach in this former Soviet nation.

    Music Ministries
Our sanctuary choir rehearses weekly and leads in worship each Sunday morning. Led by our music director, Chancey Payne, the music program is an effective work of ministry in our church. They regularly hold special performances to celebrate Christmas and Easter. These cantatas also include drama and special performances from other members of our church. Our church owns a full set of handbells and assembles a handbell choir periodicly. Generally music has always been very important to our church and is a great part of our heritage.
