Edna A. Hooten, age 81, of Bogard, Missouri,
passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital,
Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born November 6, 1921 in Coloma, Missouri, the daughter of
Dayton and Jane Colter Long. She attended country schools near Tina,
Missouri. Edna had been a care giver in private homes and was involved
in genealogy. Edna was a member of Oakland Christian Church, Tina,
Missouri.
Edna is survived by one son; Roger Fones, Bogard, Missouri; one daughter,
Lois Jean Moore, Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Eva Lee Baker, Tina, Missouri,
Sue Dilley, Warrensburg, Missouri; one grandchild, Robin; and one great
great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle Hooten;
and three brothers, Eddie, Kenny and Marvin.
Cremation with private family services will be held at a later date.

Donald Eschenbach, age 76, of Carrollton,
Missouri, and formerly of Tina, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November
5, 2003 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
Donald was born March 25, 1927 in Norborne, Missouri, the son of Otto
and Ruth Henley Eschenbach. He attended schools in Norborne and Carrollton
and graduated from Carrollton High School. He was in the United States
Army from 1951 to 1953.
On February 14, 1954 he married Frances Auer in Kansas City, Missouri.
She survives at the home. He was a farmer and a member of the First
Baptist Church, Carrollton, Missouri.
In addition to his wife, Donald is also survived by one son, Brad Eschenbach
and wife, Sarah, Tina, Missouri; one brother, Kenneth Eschenbach, Myrtle
Beach, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Holly, Heather, Stephen and
Brandon Eschenbach, Tina, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Barry Glenn; and
one grandson, Matthew.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2003
at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Jeff Maxwell
officiating. Burial will be in Van Horn Cemetery, Bogard, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10:45 a.m. before the service.

Clifton Edward Scott, age 83, formerly
of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away Thursday, November 6, 2003 at Carrollton
Nursing Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born February 16, 1920 in Meadville, Missouri, the son of Walter
and Sabra Scott.
He is survived by two sons, Clifton Edward Scott, Jr., Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma and Don Scott, State of Nevada.
Cremation arrangements were made by Gibson Funeral Homes, Carrollton,
Missouri.
Larry Lee Johnson, age 61, of Triplett, Missouri passed away Thursday, November 6, 2003 at his home in rural Triplett. he was born April 3, 1942 in Brunswick, Missouri, the son of Clifford Francis and Ceola Irene Nunn Johnson. On June 12, 1960, he was married to Colleen Downey of Sumner in the Sumner Methodist Church, of which they are both members. Mr. Johnson was a retired farmer. He was a truck driver for Kinkhorst Brunswick Distributing for three years and most recently maintained the roads of Triplett Township. He is survived by his wife, Colleen, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Karla and A.J. Johnson of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Kris and Jeff Purcell of Brookfield, Missouri and a grandson, PFC Benjamin Miller of Fort Leonard Wood. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Pat Johnson, Sumner, Missouri and an aunt and uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation under the direction of Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Chariton County Communities Foundation, Northwestern Schools.
Harold Dean Dambacher, age 71, of Carrollton,
Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2003 at his home.
He was born June 22, 1932 in Independence, Kansas, the son of Howard
William and Erma Alice Koger Dambacher. He attended Independence
Grade Schools and graduated from Independence High School. He was
in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He had been
a farmer in the Hardin, Missouri area and Utica and Tina, Missouri.
He is survived by one brother, William Robert Dambacher, Grand Pass,
Missouri; two sisters, Marie Corle, Richmond, Missouri and Wanda Biggs,
Perry, Kansas.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald
Lee Dambacher.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2003 at
Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Brother Harold Martin officiating.
Burial will be in Hale Cemetery, Hale, Missouri.
There will be no visitation.

Ruth Maurine Warren passed away Sunday,
November 9, 2003.
She was born on the family farm near Stet, Missouri on March 5, 1906
to Charles Daniel and Fannie Brock Miller. She attended Prairie Flower
Grade School near her home.
On January 19, 1927, she married Otto Sebastian. He died on August
11, 1947. To this marriage four children were born, Virginia, Gerald,
Shirley and Charles.
On July 20, 1950, Ruth married Robert C. Warren. He died on December
28, 1982.
Ruth worked at Stanford Laundry, Nances Cafe and Smith's Cleaners.
In 1960 Ruth and Robert moved to Warsaw, Missouri, where they owned and
operated Warren Antique Shop on Kaysinger Bluff. When they weren't
attending auctions to buy antiques they were fishing. In the summer
of 1972 they moved to Tina, Missouri where they operated a refinishing
shop until Mr. Warren's death. Ruth moved to Carrollton in March
of 1983 to Valley View Apartments where she lived for twenty years.
She continued to do all her work until two and one half months ago.
As a teenager, she joined the Bethany Church of The Brethren where she
still attended as long as she could drive. She enjoyed having all
of their grandchildren and nieces and nephews coming to stay with them.
One of their summer joys was having all the grandkids and nieces and nephews
come for visits to fish with them. Three things she wanted to do
were to fly in a big plane, visit her father's birthplace in Virginia and
go to Canada. She accomplished all three.
Ruth is survived by one brother, Azzle Miller, Chillicothe, Missouri;
one son Gerald and wife, LouAnn, Carrollton, Missouri; two daughters, Virginia
Davis and husband, Van, Sedalia, Missouri; and Shirley Wood and husband,
John, Gallatin, Missouri; one step daughter, Dorothy Jean Knott, Carrollton,
Missouri; thirty-five grandchildren; forty-four great grandchildren; sixteen
great great grandchildren; and lots of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, John and Bill; three
sisters, Florence, Catherine and Frances; one son, Charles; one step son
Robert and his wife, Norma; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 13, 2003
at the Bethany Church of The Brethren, Stet, Missouri, with Reverend Jason
Frazier and Reverend Bruce Trussell officiating. Burial will be in
Van Horn Cemetery, Tina, Missouri.
Mrs. Warren will lie in state at Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton,
Missouri from 1:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2003.

Minnie Elizabeth Maycock, age 69, of Waverly,
Missouri passed away Sunday, November 9, 2003 at Appleridge Care Center,
Waverly, Missouri.
She was born May 30, 1934 in Waverly, Missouri the daughter of John
E. and Minnie Reifsteck Lichtenthaler. She attended grade school
in Waverly and graduated from Waverly High School.
On June 22, 1956, she married Edward Maycock in Lexington, Missouri.
He survives at the home. Minnie was a house wife and mother and a
member of the Waverly Christian Church and Waverly Breakfast Club.
She is also survived by two sons, John Maycock, Waverly, Missouri,
Doug Maycock, Marshall, Missouri; two daughters, Mary Brayman, Marshall,
Missouri, Lisa Adams, Rogers, Arkansas; four sisters, Lucille Richardson,
Mildred Nichols, Katherine Hill and Edna Oelrichs, all of Waverly, Missouri;
two grandsons; and two step granddaughters.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters
and one step granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 14, 2003 at
the Waverly Christian Church, Waverly, Missouri with Reverend Mike Koch
officiating. Burial will be in Val Halla Cemetery, Waverly, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2003 at
Gibson Funeral Home, Waverly, Missouri.

Mary Louise McClure died on the evening of November 13, 2003. A life long resident of Carrollton, she was the daughter of John A. and Marie Berning, born September 6, 1914. She was married to Robert W. McClure June 22, 1935; who preceded her in death on June 22, 1984. She is survived by a daughter, Judith L. Travis and husband, Kenneth, of Carrollton; a son, James H. McClure and wife, Barbara, of Arlington, Virginia; five grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Visitation will be at Gibson Funeral Home Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Carroll Memory Gardens. Memorials to the Carrollton Fireman's 4th of July and children's parties fund in liew of flowers.
Sylvester James Dilley, 91, died Friday,
November 14, 2003, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
He was born May 22, 1912, in Miami, Missouri, the son of Sylvester
and Anna Katherine Brenizer Dilley.
.
On November 25, 1936, he married Ruth Opal Bachtel in Gallatin,
Missouri. She preceded him in death April 17, 1995.
Mr. Dilley attended country schools and graduated from DeWitt
High School. He was a life-long farmer. Mr. Dilley was a member
of the former Bosworth United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday
school superintendent for several years and was a trustee of the church.
He attended the Bosworth Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry S. and
Sue Dilley of Warrensburg and James and Dian Dilley of Bosworth; five granddaughters,
Mari Beth Dilley of Warrensburg, Carla Leighow of Grain Valley, Kristy
Bullock of St. James, Kerry Harris of Linn and Karolean Harris of Grain
Valley; seven great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Amanda Dilley of Warrensburg,
Brenton and Bailey Leighow of Grain Valley, Emily and Alyson Bullock of
St. James; and Colton Harris of Linn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Maryon
B. Dilley.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 16, 2003,
at the Gibson Funeral Chapel in Bosworth. Burial will be at the Wharton
Cemetery, near Bosworth.
Friends may call from 1-6:00 p.m., Saturday, November 15, 2003,
at the chapel in Bosworth. There is no scheduled family visitation.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to
Wharton, or the Bosworth Christian Church.

Robert Evans Smith, age 79, of Waverly,
Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2003 at his home.
He was born October 17, 1924 in Carroll County, Missouri, the son of
Jesse P. and Nellie Williams Smith. He attended Neal Country School
and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1943.
On April 24, 1949 he married Pauline Yake in rural Carrollton, Missouri.
They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in April of 1999.
Pauline survives at the home.
Bob was a third generation life-long farmer and spent his entire life
farming, hunting and fishing in the Missouri River bottom. He had
served on the Sugartree Levee and Drainage District. Bob confirmed
his faith in the mid 1930's by joining the Thompson Chapel Methodist Church
near Sugartree. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Waverly,
Missouri; and a life member of RAO. The Smith family was awarded
the Farm Bureau Farm Family of the Year in 1975. Bob was also awarded
the Carrollton FFA State Farm Degree.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by five children, Ellen Davis
and husband, Kenny, Carrollton, Missouri, Wayne Smith and wife, Annette,
Carrollton, Missouri, Paula Culp and husband, Greg, Gilbert, Arizona, Jerry
Smith and wife, Lucy, Carrollton, Missouri; and Rocky Smith, Kansas City,
Missouri; two brothers, Jess Smith, Brunswick, Missouri, Jack Smith, Carrollton,
Missouri, one sister, Joy Shaw, Union, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren,
Wade, Matt, Daisy, Kristi, Jesse, Jacob, Nellie, Abbie, Anna, Cydney, Jessica,
Betsy, Gabriel and Sylvia; five great grandchildren, Drew, Cawyer, Luke,
Gracie and Clara.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Paul Smith,
and an infant sister, Rose.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2003 ,
at the United Methodist Church , Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Robert
Payne and Reverend Sandra Crater officiating. Burial will be in Oak
Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.

Clarence Chester “Shorty” Hilton, 97, went
to be with his Lord on November 23, 2003, at Oakridge Convalescent Center
in Plattsburg, Missouri. He was born to George and Minnie Hilton
on September 24, 1906, at Braymer, Missouri. He had lived in the
Carrollton, Missouri area most of his life. Shorty had worked in
wheel alignment, farmed, CB &Q Railroad, and Pinkerton Guard at Banquet
Foods. In 1935, he married Elsie Lorene Hawkins, who preceded him
in death in 1996. He was also preceded in death by his father, George
R., and mother, Minnie V. Hilton, three brothers and two sisters, and a
son-in-law Melvin Hunter. Shorty was a member of the Carrollton Church
of the Nazarene and was a 50 year member of Wakenda Masonic Lodge No. 52,
and Marshall Chapter No. 408 Order of the Eastern Star. Shorty was
a very caring and giving person.
He leaves to mourn two daughters, DoLores “Dee” Hale and husband, Bob,
of Trimble, Missouri, and JoAnn Hunter of Carrollton, Missouri, Grandson
Stephen Isaacks of Arlington, Texas, granddaughter Carmen Luke and great
granddaughter Lacie Luke of Carrollton, Missouri; and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at
Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating.
Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bogard, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2003 at Gibson
Funeral Home with Masonic Services at 8:00 p.m.

Martha Jewel Hildebrand of Carrollton,
Missouri, passed away Monday, November 24, 2003 at the Carrollton Nursing
Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
Jewel was born in Mandeville, Missouri, the daughter of William Andrew
and Mary (Mollie) Shultz Burton. She received her education at the
Isom School near her home.
Jewel was married to Claude E. Vogt on February 23, 1921 in Carrollton,
Missouri by the Reverend G.L. Bush; to this union one child, Jack Eldon,
was born; he passed away at the age of six years. Claude
passed away on February 14, 1968. She later was married to Edgar
R. Hildebrand on May 21, 1971; he preceded her in death on July 16, 1980.
She lived most of her life in the Kansas City, Missouri area where she
was employed by the Skelly Oil Company for approximately sixteen years.
After her retirement, she and her husband retired to Carrollton, Missouri.
Jewel was a member of the First Christian Church of Carrollton, Missouri,
the Rebekah Lodge, Royal Neighbors Lodge, Trotter Hustlers Extension Club,
and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773 of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Carrollton, Missouri.
Her extended family includes Steve and Caren Bittiker, Carrollton,
Missouri, Steven, Chastity, Lauren and Stevie Bittiker, Columbia, Missouri,
Carissa Anne Bittiker Hoover and husband, Steven, Liberty, Missouri, Carol
and Rick Grisolano, Carrollton, Missouri; one nephew, Bill Burton and wife,
Lynette, Carrollton, Missouri; one niece, Judy Brown and husband, Steve,
Beloit, Kansas; one sister-in-law, Frances Burton, Richmond, Missouri;
several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Jewel was preceded in death by her son, one brother and sister-in-law,
W. I. (Dobber) and Fern Burton, and one brother-in-law, Austin Burton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 28, 2003
at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Joe Barone officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 9-10:15 a.m., prior to the service.

Harry L. Cason, age 77, of Norborne, Missouri
passed away Friday, November 28, 2003 at Carroll House in Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born May 6, 1926 in Carroll County, Missouri the son of Harry
and Bert Lee Buckner Cason. He attended Norborne Grade School.
He was in the United States Navy. Harry was a member of Norborne
Methodist Church St. Luke’s A.M.E.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruth Holly and
one brother-in-law, Eddie Holly.
Graveside memorial services will be Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at
11:00 a.m., at Stemple Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri.
