There are 47 display rooms in our museum along with two other building and outside exibits. We will be featuring different ones from time to time on this page. Please stop by often. We have postcards featuring a few of our rooms that will be shown on this page. These sell for $.25 each plus SASE (up to 8 cards=32¢ stamp).

Willows for Roof from Arthur Vogelsmeier farm near Carrollton. Mud to chink cracks from museum grounds.

Granny: Figure made by Mrs. Paul Griffith. Dress and Bonnet belonged to Paul Griffith's Grandmother, Sarah, wife of Judge Griffith whose parents came to Missouri in 1846.

Chair in Front of Oven: Mrs. Ross Jones. Mr. Jones Grandmother, Margaret Jones rode from Alabama to Missouri in a covered wagon in 1831. She sat in this chair during the trip. She and her four sons settled in DeWitt Twp.-- one of first families

Cape on Wall: Gift of Mrs. Florence Schnapp Powell. It was worn in 1847 by Phillipine Schapp-1816-1895. When she was presented to the Queen of Austria-Hungary. Her Husband, Michael Schnapp, 1797-1855 was then Mayor of Budapest. Driven from their Country, they came first to New York City, then west to Missouri in the 1850's. They were the Grandparents of Mrs. Powell. The Cape is Watered Silk, lined and padded with wool.
Portraits: Given by Florence Schnapp Powell. They were painted in 1840 by Michael Schnapp, Mayor of Budapest. Phillipine Schnapp was his wife.
Umbrella Stand: Bought in Bancroft, Maine by pearl E. Lowrance
