In October, 1955, some 25,000 people filed into Kansas City’s Municipal Stadium to hear Fr. Patrick Peyton’s plea for families to pray the Rosary daily in their homes.  Known as the “Rosary Priest,” Fr. Peyton traveled the globe gathering people into a movement that offered prayers for world peace and the well-being of the family.  The spirit of Fr. Peyton lives on, and Catholics across the region will gather in Kauffman Stadium on Sunday, May 25, at 3:00 p.m. for a Corpus Christi Procession, Eucharistic Adoration and Global Living Rosary.

Each Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., the Prayer Group at St. Mary’s meets in the Chapel in Tally Hall.  If you would like to attend, they would love to have you join them.

Please remember that contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Msgr. Summers Scholarship Fund at any time during the year.  You may drop them in the offering baskets marked for “Scholarship Fund”, or stop by the Parish Office during the business hours.

Please continue to save Best Choice UPC labels and put them in the container in the vestibule of the church.  Proceeds from the UPC labels are a fund raiser for the St. Anne’s Altar Society.  If you have any questions, please contact Judy Adams, who is in charge of the project.  Thanks!

Please remember when you can not serve as a Mass Assistant on the day you have been scheduled, it is your responsibility to find someone to take your place.  Thank you!

If you have items of interest for the bulletin or would like a Mass said, please call the Parish Office with your need instead of telling Fr. or Cheryl in other places besides church or the Parish Office.  If that is not handy for you, please give them your request in writing so that it will not be forgotten when they return to the Parish Office.  If you have money, please put it in an envelope and designate what it is for.  Thank you.

On the Lighter Side...

CHICKEN SURPRISE:  A couple goes for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and orders the “Chicken Surprise.”  The waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast-iron pot.  Just as the wife is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams back down.  “Hey, did you see that?”, she asks her husband.  He hadn’t, so she asks him to look in the pot.  He reaches for it and again the lid rises, and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down.  Sputtering in a fit of pique, he calls the waiter over, describes what is happening, and demands an explanation!  “Please sir,” says the waiter, “what did you order?”  The husband replies, “Chicken Surprise.”  “Ah…so sorry,” says the waiter, “I bring you Peeking Duck.”
